Secrets to reducing belly fat for men and men who love to cook: lying down method, standing method, walking method, and simple recipes
To achieve a beautiful, ideal physique, even without strenuous exercise day and night, some tips can help you reach your goal more effectively. Here are three tips for men to reduce belly fat; feel free to refer to them.
Eight out of ten men have a belly. And if it's men over thirty, it's probably nine and a half out of ten who have a belly; the only difference is the size of the belly.
There are many reasons for a protruding belly. Sitting too much at work leads to fat accumulation in the abdomen; excessive alcohol consumption results in a beer belly; lack of exercise, uncontrolled eating, and a preference for high-fat foods can all cause a man's belly to grow larger as he matures. When you find that even a loose polo shirt can't hide your belly, and your tie billows out when you wear a suit, making it difficult to button your suit jacket, it's time to seriously address the problem.
To deal with this "disaster area," exercise and dietary adjustments are certainly effective. However, based on my years of (failed) weight loss experience, I've summarized three tips to help men combat belly fat, prevent it from worsening in men whose belly problems haven't yet become serious, and stop the progression of pregnancy in men. Men with belly fat problems may want to refer to these tips:
· The Lying-Down Method
This is a secret method I discovered while watching a Japanese TV program. I've tried it, and it's quite effective.
The method is very simple. Find some time each day (preferably not within 2 hours after eating) to do this exercise. Lie flat on your back and tie your big toes together with a rubber band. Place a small cushion under your lower back and tailbone to support your waist and abdomen. Then place your arms behind your ears and lie for 5 minutes. Your belly problem will improve immediately.
This method is very effective in Japan. I recently traveled to Japan and saw a magazine discussing it extensively. They even included a small cushion so users wouldn't have to search for one that properly supports their waist and abdomen. According to their theory, many people have bellies not only due to fat accumulation but also because of aging; the internal organs in the abdomen shift downwards, causing them to protrude (some people have bellies that aren't saggy, and aren't overweight elsewhere, which might be for this reason). Therefore, lying like this every day helps reduce the burden and allows the displaced organs to return to their original positions. I've tried it, and with consistent practice, my belly has noticeably decreased.
Standing method
Many friends who know me and have dined with me wonder why I always stand up after eating and don't like to sit down. The reason is simple: sitting after a large meal can easily cause bloating, but standing prevents fat from accumulating in the abdomen and reduces the appearance of creases around the waist. Don't think I'm just making this up; I recently saw in a magazine that the beautiful Shu Qi also has this habit, proving that my judgment was indeed correct.
I'm used to standing for at least 20 minutes after eating. If it's a large party, standing for a bit isn't really noticeable. Pretending to go to the restroom and then coming back without sitting down, admiring your surroundings, or pretending to look at the scenery outside, is a small, kind lie that won't seem out of place.
• Walking method
After a meal, standing is better than sitting, but standing is not as good as taking a walk.
The ancients had a habit of taking a walk after meals, whether to cool off or to aid digestion; this is wisdom worth emulating. Otherwise, where would those poems and classic articles written by the ancients after their walks home from meals come from?
Taking a 20-30 minute walk after a meal to breathe in some fresh air is not only good for your health but also for your mood. My doctor often tells me to take more walks after meals to help relieve stress and improve sleep.
Did you know? Our movie star Chow Yun-fat recently revealed his secret to rapid weight loss. In addition to avoiding starches at dinner, it also includes taking a 20-30 minute walk after meals. Haha, I'm not alone in this.

I recently read a report that a study by the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong pointed out that insufficient exercise, inadequate intake of fruits and vegetables, smoking, and excessive drinking are the main factors that endanger public health, with insufficient exercise and inadequate intake of fruits and vegetables being the highest risk factors.
Data shows that a study conducted by the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong between 2009 and 2011 surveyed nearly 20,000 Hong Kong residents aged 15 or above, finding that 40% of respondents had suboptimal health at both the individual and family levels. The study indicated that 70% of respondents exercised for less than 2.5 hours per week, and 90% consumed less than 500 grams of fruits and vegetables daily. Professor Lam Tai-hing, Dean of the School, stated that insufficient fruit and vegetable consumption leads to weight gain, high blood pressure, and an increased risk of cancer. He further recommended that residents exercise for at least 2.5 hours per week, or at least walk for at least 30 minutes daily if time is limited.
The study further found that 30% of respondents had high blood pressure, and another 30% were in the prehypertension stage, meaning their systolic blood pressure was between 120 and 140 mmHg or their diastolic blood pressure was between 80 and 90 mmHg. Professor Lin reminded us that prehypertension patients should improve their lifestyle as early as possible, otherwise they are very likely to develop hypertension. Meanwhile, men's health tends to decline suddenly between the ages of 25 and 30 because they start working after graduation, eat out frequently, and reduce physical activity. However, their health improves significantly after middle age because they become aware of the changes in their bodies, learn to take care of themselves, and improve their lifestyle habits. Women's health, on the other hand, does not decline suddenly, nor does it improve after middle age; it declines gradually. Therefore, men who want to improve their health should be aware of these issues early on and take preventative measures, rather than waiting until health problems arise before taking action!
Good oil for both cooking and eating
Body shaping and health maintenance are not just for women; men should start eating healthily as early as possible, which can also help fight aging!
In the United States, there is a famous male movie star who developed Alzheimer's disease at a young age. It is said that he was a fan of microwaved food and snacks, and his daily meals consisted almost entirely of canned food! Therefore, men should cook more often in their spare time, or eat at home more often, which will be beneficial to their health. Of course, the most important thing is to follow the "cosmic diet"!
Many years ago, I stopped eating canned and processed foods from the market. I only eat fresh, pesticide-free organic fruits, vegetables, and meats. When I unavoidably eat out, I always specifically ask for "no MSG" when ordering, and the packaged drinks I consume are just water. You might say, "Ah! Where's the fun in that?" But everything comes at a price; the question is whether you think it's worth it. I want to be stylish, healthy, not age prematurely, and full of energy, so I'm willing to sacrifice what most people call "the pleasure of eating." Besides, I don't see any reason why processed foods full of trans fats are worth sacrificing my health and beauty for. For me, cooking for myself or eating fresh food is the true "pleasure of eating"!
However, we shouldn't accept the misconception that losing weight requires completely eliminating oil. In fact, fats are important to our bodies because many bodily tissues and physiological functions require them. Insufficient or unbalanced fat intake, such as for those on long-term low-fat diets, diabetics, or those with high cholesterol, can easily lead to problems like mood swings, irritability, depression, poor concentration, weakened immunity, endocrine disorders, and unstable blood sugar. Therefore, it's fine to eat plenty of good oils, but bad oils should be thrown away and never eaten.
Therefore, I taught Yixing to cook at home, mainly using "three good oils": extra virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil, and cold-pressed coconut oil. Many scientific studies show that consuming uncooked olive oil can help prevent heart disease and immune system disorders, boost immunity, and aid in weight loss. However, if good oils are used improperly during cooking, they can become bad. For example, extra virgin olive oil is only suitable for frying or stir-frying over medium-low heat (not exceeding 160℃), and should not be used at high temperatures; it's best used for cold dishes. Coconut oil is suitable for high-temperature cooking, and the lauric acid it contains can promote metabolism and fat burning. Grapeseed oil can be used for cold dishes, frying, stir-frying, boiling, and deep-frying, making it arguably the best among them. Because I want to maintain my health, I avoid high-heat frying and deep-frying, so I prefer using extra virgin olive oil-it's all-natural. Remember that once oil is refined, hydrogenated, or oxidized, it becomes bad oil and is detrimental to health. However, more than 70% of oils on the market have been refined, so you really need to check carefully when buying them to avoid buying "bad oil," which would be a loss.
