Spicy Food and Food Combination: Two New Scientific Approaches to Weight Loss
Eating spicy food for weight loss.
A research team at Kyoto University in Japan discovered that capsaicin has an anti-obesity effect. Its flavoring can promote fat metabolism and prevent fat accumulation in the body. Simultaneously, the soluble fiber in spicy foods is a good starch inhibitor, preventing the absorption of carbohydrates from food. Furthermore, fiber absorbs water and swells in the stomach, creating a feeling of fullness, thus helping to reduce food intake and control weight. In my country, many people from Sichuan and Hunan enjoy eating chili peppers, and among them, those who frequently eat chili peppers and exercise regularly are indeed less likely to be obese. However, some people warn that it is not advisable to eat chili peppers immediately after exercise, otherwise it can easily lead to weight gain. Others warn that chili peppers can stimulate appetite, causing a large appetite; if one does not exercise, it will not only fail to help with weight loss but may even lead to obesity.
The food combination diet.
German nutritionists have developed a so-called "food combination diet." This diet requires dieters to avoid eating certain foods together in one meal. For example, when eating high-protein, high-fat meat dishes, people can eat some vegetables, but they cannot drink beer or eat carbohydrate foods such as rice, bread, and potatoes. This is because body fat is composed of a variety of nutrients; when the body consumes high-protein foods but not carbohydrate foods, it will not increase fat. It has been reported that a woman who was 178 cm tall and weighed 90 kg lost 17 kg in two months using this method.
