Pineapple eating methods and taboos
Whether it's made into canned pineapple, dried pineapple, pineapple jam, or pineapple juice for export; or pickled and stewed into pineapple chicken or pineapple pork trotter soup; or used in Cantonese cuisine as pineapple shrimp balls or pineapple fried rice, pineapple is arguably one of the most commonly used fruits in cooking. Pineapple is generally eaten raw, either sliced or juiced. It can also be processed into canned, frozen, candied, salted, and wine-making products.
Because ripe pineapples are very sweet, they are usually not eaten alone in weight-loss diets. Instead, they are blended with less palatable vegetables to make juices, which enhance flavor and texture. Examples include pineapple and carrot juice, pineapple and bitter melon juice, pineapple and cabbage juice, pineapple and bell pepper juice, pineapple and celery juice, or used as a salad topping.
Pineapple is best eaten after meals to avoid abdominal pain. Patients with stomach ulcers, kidney disease, or poor blood clotting should not eat too much pineapple, as it may worsen their condition. Those with stomach cold, cold cough, or weak cough should not eat raw pineapple or drink raw pineapple juice; it can be cooked before consumption. Those with skin eczema or boils should avoid eating pineapple.
According to folklore, some people experience an allergic reaction to pineapple on hot days, known as pineapple allergy, which causes skin rashes, swelling, itching, irritability, and discomfort. Drinking salt water or eating pineapple dipped in salt can provide relief.
Pineapple can help prevent this type of allergy.
Many people find pineapple scratchy on the mouth, but there are secrets to eating it without this. When buying a pre-peeled pineapple or peeling a whole one yourself, never wash it with water, as this will make it scratchy. Also, dipping it in a little salt while eating will reduce the stinging sensation.
Four principles of enjoying delicious food
Most people think that you can't eat any delicious food while dieting, but as long as you follow a few principles, you can still enjoy delicious food and maintain a slim figure even while dieting!
Eat slowly and savor the delicious food.
Eating too quickly and frequently overeating can stretch your stomach until your brain registers fullness, making you more prone to obesity. Taking an hour to finish a meal is the optimal eating speed for those trying to lose weight.
Charcoal grilled miso with spices
People trying to lose weight often eat steamed, stewed, or boiled foods, which taste terrible and make it difficult to stick to the diet.
While many enjoy grilled seafood and steak, these are often overlooked low-fat options. Adding spices like cilantro, basil, and pepper during grilling enhances the flavor without altering the calorie count.
③ A happy mood makes weight loss easier.
People who are trying to lose weight are most prone to self-pity, and did you know that this is also a reason for weight loss failure? Traditional Chinese medicine believes that "excessive emotions can turn into fire." Worrying and overthinking can damage the liver and spleen, both of which can harm the body. Clinically, it is pointed out that being too angry, too lonely, too tired, or too hungry can all lead to eating disorders, and some cases of binge eating disorder are caused by this.
④ Eating healthily is worse than eating all you can.
Studies have shown that eating until you're 70% full is the healthiest option. Those who are trying to lose weight and pursue a healthier lifestyle should remember not to eat until they're stuffed. Instead, choose a restaurant with an elegant atmosphere and order light, simple dishes, especially Japanese cuisine such as sashimi, boiled vegetables, and grilled fish – these are all safe and enjoyable options.

Pineapple Tips
① Unripe pineapples contain a large amount of nitrates, and eating too much can cause tongue irritation. Applying a little salt before eating not only enhances the sweet flavor but also alleviates the tingling and sensitivity in the mouth and lips.
② Pineapple contains protein-degrading enzymes that can promote the digestion of meat, but these enzymes will lose their activity when heated to above 60°C. Canned pineapple is another example.
③ When buying pineapples, choose ripe ones with firm flesh, a sweet pineapple aroma emanating from the stem, and a solid, resonant sound when tapped with your finger. Avoid selecting pineapples with soft, lumpy sections or those that smell sour.
④ Pineapples can usually be stored at room temperature for two days. If they are wrapped in a plastic bag and placed in the refrigerator, they can be stored for about three to five days. If they are sliced, they can be stored in a food storage container for about five to seven days.
